After all that, this is what happens, ah. Apparently it wasn't that cut and dry.

Re: Raymond Davis Freed with Blood Money

It was cut and dry from the beginning...but the situation in Pakistan prevented the elected government from adhearing to international laws and treaties. This situation involved more than a random shooting of robbers in Pakistan by a diplomat, citizen, or what have you. If you didn't know already, Pakistan isn't a willing ally of ours...they let us use their country and it's airspace to supply our troops in Afghanistan. But, their government is split with one group ruling the majority of the country, another faction ruling a minority segment of the country, judges ruling all of them, army generals ruling through clout as powerful as judges, and clerics ruling through religion through sharia law. Furthermore, the ISI bascially does as it pleases...and when you embarrass any of those factions..especially the ISI, nothing is as "cut and dry" as it seems. Pakistan's government was looking for a way to return Raymond without causing a public revolt from day one...and blood money is sanctioned by sharia law to settle cases. That being the case, Raymond was released through the use of Pakistan's own religious laws..thus, there was little public protest. So, it ends up with Pakistan saving face by appearing to not give in to the US's demands to free Raymond...while all the while they were working on a solution to do just that.
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....
